BREAST
Gynaecomastia surgery
Gynaecomastia (enlarged male breasts) is a common condition that can cause physical discomfort, such as chafing, as well as self-consciousness or embarrassment.
In many cases, it will resolve naturally but some men suffer with persistent gynaecomastia despite lifestyle changes and weight loss. Surgery can address this by removing excess tissue to leave a flatter, more masculine chest.
It usually involves:
-
Liposuction to remove fatty tissue.
-
Making cuts to remove firmer glandular tissue and, if needed, excess skin.
The operation is done under general anaesthetic, typically as a day case. A compression vest, or tight cycling T-shirt, is worn for 6 weeks afterwards for support during recovery.
